Happy 2012!!!!!!!!

Yes I know, you must have thought I'd given up on blogging all together, I have been so quiet on here lately .. I haven't written in my blog since August 2011 .. naughty naughty blogger!!!  Looking at my stats I still seem to get quite a few hits a day so good on you for hanging in there.

I will try to start the year off on the right foot and get some photos up right away.  I've been brave enough to attempt a project this year where I have to take a photo every single day to document the year.  I've even made myself highly accountable by starting a facebook group for others that want to give it a go so we can all do it together and encourage one another.  If you are interested in giving it a go come visit us here.

And to start off the new year of photos for 2012 here are some shots from our New Years celebrations last night. We had a fun night celebrating Scottish Hogmanay style with good friends.

Celebrating Easter

It was a pretty quiet Easter this year.  Spent a lot of the time at home just pottering around, catching up on things.  The weather was great!  Easter Sunday some of the family gathered out at Mum and Dads for a late afternoon BBQ and an Easter Egg hunt for the little ones.  Here's some photos taken that day.

.. the next minute he is doing Easter dress-ups with the kids :)

Also wanted to share with you a photo of this canvas that Mum made.  We had a mixed media canvas making session at mums the weekend before Easter and this is her finished product.  Well done .. I knew you could do one and that it would be great!

 

 

Live on the Radio!

This past week Duncan wrote an original song for one of his college assignments. He put it up on YouTube and forwarded to friends who have a segment on a local community radio and they asked him to come in to perform on air yesterday.  It went well, he performed his original song plus a cover, but more importantly he had great fun!  I was banned from coming along because it just wouldn't be cool for mum to be there!! But he did take one of my cameras with him and got some shots for me .. so I'm a happy mumma :)

Graduation, a Birthday and some Card Making

Last week my baby (he hates me calling him that .. oops) graduated high school.  I can hardly believe the time has gone so fast!  A new chapter of his life is about to begin and I couldn't be prouder of his achievements and the young man he has become.  Here he is with his Nana on graduation night.

 

He is busy applying to a college at the moment and we will have our fingers crossed that he gets into the Music course he is wanting to do.

Today we had a celebration for my nephew Max who is turning 5 tomorrow.

He loved his racing track cake and to my delight it was gluten free so I got to have some too!! Yay!

On Saturday I attended a great Christmas Card making class at Daisychain Scrapbooks.  I don't think I've made many cards before (except some simple ones from a Basic Grey kit) so I was very excited to give these a go on the weekend.  We made six cards in total and I have bought some materials to make some more at home now I've got the hang of it.  Here are my favourite three from the day ...

Tinkerbell, Bubbles and a Jumping Castle!

On the weekend we had the pleasure of celebrating the birthday of my Great Niece, Isla, who turned 3 years old.  There was lots of fun stuff going on like:

Opening presents and cards ..

 

Blowing bubbles with mum ..

 

 

and then there was the jumping castle (how cool is that!)

 

Each child had their own individual style on the slide ..

Noosa Pengari Childrens Festival

My nephew Max goes to preschool at Noosa Pengari Steiner School.  Today they had a childrens festival and they couldn't have picked a better day for it .. after days of overcast weather the sun came out and warmed everyone up and the kids had a ball playing in the sunshine and the adults also enjoyed the live music, delicious food and many other things on offer.

All in all a very fun day for the the little kidlets.  My favourite part was the cake and coffee stall .. yummm!

Birthdays and getting organised

This week is birthday week!  Today is my Dads birthday (72 years young) and Saturday is my birthday.  This afternoon we celebrated Dads birthday with a yummy cake that mum had created.

 

We all pitched in and bought dad a little video camera as a present.  I think he'll get a lot of use out of it, especially when we all go over to Greece and Scotland later this year.

 

It certainly has been a busy time lately.  Lot's happening, working, travelling, attending events, trying to catch up, birthdays, having a big clear out (spring clean, even though its not spring!) and much more.

This afternoon I picked up some containers from Howards Storage World to organise the shelving in my office a bit better.  They were getting messy and out of control and because its all open shelving I wanted to tidy it up and I love how much better it looks now!

 

I've got a long way to go with my spring cleaning.  I'm going through every cupboard, every drawer, every file, nothing will escape my clean out rampage :-)  I think we will have to have a garage sale sometime soon as I am getting quite a collection of things that need to go!

I am trying to do a little bit each day, usually when I get some time at night.  It's a fairly slow process but it will get done eventually and be so worth it.  I always feel 100% better after a huge cleanout.  When there is too much clutter my brain starts to get foggy and I find it hard to function with clarity.  That's why spring cleans are my friend :-)

If any of you have any good tips for having a big cleanout .. I'd love to hear them.

More Australia Day Fun

Further to yesterdays Australia Day photos I wanted to add these from our family BBQ/get together yesterday afternoon.  Because of the wonderful warm day there was plenty of time spent in the pool splashing around.  Max likes to dive-bomb, Jack likes to just float around with his Mum or dad, Isla likes to belly-flop!  They are all water babies, my little niece and nephews.

 

 

 

 

And what would Australia Day be without Pavlova .. seriously .. and lamingtons of course!

 

It was lovely catching up with family and celebrating being a part of this great country of ours.

Sad goodbyes

... and the countdown to June begins!

Yesterday we had to say goodbye to Jess at the airport and send her on her way back to Canada.  The time just went way too fast.  But we will see her again in June and this time we get to see her hometown and meet her family so we are pretty excited about that!

 

 

Thanks Jess, for spending the holiday time with us and putting the biggest smile on Duncan's face :)
