I've been slack at blogging again, I know!  Thanks for the reminders everyone.  I feel humbled that you miss it when I don't blog for a while so I will try to be more diligent about it.  There are just some times when the urge isn't there and I've been through that a bit the past month.

I have been remembering to take a photo a day for my year long challenge.  I don't want to bombard my blog with pics so will just share a few up here occassionally.  But its been a great exercise that has made me look at things differently and document life rather than always trying for the perfect shot.  Because you've always got your eye out for something to photograph, it really makes you step back and open your eyes to your surroundings, more than ever before.  It has also been a great habit to get into, making sure I always have a camera with me, whether its my Nikon, my little compact, or my iPhone.

Ok, so whats been happening recently?

Today Mum's been experimenting with marbling on paper.  The process involves shaving cream, ink and lots of lovely mess!  Love the effect and it's a really easy process.

This following shot was taken on my phone while down by Brisbane river last week.  Went down with a group of lovely friends for dinner at Southbank followed by a show .. Mary Poppins .. which was brilliant!  So loved it, the sets were amazing, very clever, and great performance.

Happy 2012!!!!!!!!

Yes I know, you must have thought I'd given up on blogging all together, I have been so quiet on here lately .. I haven't written in my blog since August 2011 .. naughty naughty blogger!!!  Looking at my stats I still seem to get quite a few hits a day so good on you for hanging in there.

I will try to start the year off on the right foot and get some photos up right away.  I've been brave enough to attempt a project this year where I have to take a photo every single day to document the year.  I've even made myself highly accountable by starting a facebook group for others that want to give it a go so we can all do it together and encourage one another.  If you are interested in giving it a go come visit us here.

To start I will share with you a collage of a few Christmas 2011 photos.

Followed by my favourite photo from Christmas Day .. our funny hat photo :-)  This one just cracks me up everytime I look at it.

And to start off the new year of photos for 2012 here are some shots from our New Years celebrations last night. We had a fun night celebrating Scottish Hogmanay style with good friends.

Beautiful Winter Days in Hobart

I recently spent some time down in Hobart and I'm pleased to say that the weather was just gorgeous with lovely sunny winter days for most of the time I was there.  Yes, it was still quite cool and my winter clothes got a good workout, but with the sun out and no wind it was very pleasant indeed.

Below are some photos I wanted to share with you from one of my mornings I spent wandering around the Salamanca Market.  It's a busy little place on a Saturday morning and there are all sorts of things to see, hear and taste!

 .. this could take a while!  On the weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Abbey Medieval Festival which is certainly a photographers paradise with so much happening and many many people dressed up in costume, not just the exhibitors but the general public who come to watch.  Everywhere you turned there was something interesting to photograph.  They were lucky to have a perfectly sunny winters day for the event.

So over 700 photos later, it was time to leave!  I've just spent about 3 hours going through the photos and trying to pick my favourites.  I narrowed it down to just under 40 that I wanted to share with you :)  So hope you have a few minutes spare and your scrolling finger is ready.

Lunch .. yummy paella made in massive big pans.  Absolutely delicious.

Blog Update

I saw this image today on facebook and couldn't resist putting it here on my blog as an emergency picture .. and to say hello to everyone who has been asking when I'm I going to blog again! I see its been almost 4 weeks .. naughty naughty blogger!

This photo made my laugh because I hate blogging without any photos, seems so visually boring and I actually haven't taken a great deal of photos lately, so I needed an emergency photo and what better than a kitten LOL. 

Sorry I've been AWOL. Been a bit busy working on some exciting new things and have had the head down happily working away.  Will come up for air soon and do an update or two.  Got some fantastic photographic opportunities coming up soon so I will have some blog posts in the near future.

So stay tuned my patient peeps!

Making the most of a sunny Sunday

I had been promising Duncan a day out to Dreamworld for a while and we finally had a weekend where we both could spare a day.  So on Sunday we headed off early to the Gold Coast along with 3 lovely friends of his. Dreamworld has a great 2 for 1 admission offer at the moment so we got a great deal.  We were so keen to get there we ended up in the carpark more than an hour before it opened LOL.  We had no idea it didn't open till 10am .. note to self - research these things better next time :-)

So after a bit of a wait we finally got inside and the kids disappeared to run to the closest ride!  I saw them twice over the next 5 hours LOL.  So I got to wander around at my leisure and had the most fun in the wildlife section taking photos.

My favourites were the tigers.  They are amazing creatures.

This one was leaping off a rock into the air to get some food the keeper had thrown.

 

How about a cuddle with this giant kitty!

It was a fun day out.  The kids pretty much went on every ride, some more than once.  They were so tired that they all fell asleep about 5 minutes after we got in the car to head home!

 

One Little Word Captured | Weeks 22 & 23

I'm behind again on my weekly photo challenge!  So you get two photos this week to catch up.  What a busy couple of weeks it has been.  Not a lot of time to take photos but lots of exciting things happening so it's all good!

This one a few of you have seen as I put it up on facebook this morning.  I really ENJOY my Monday mornings getting together with these lovely ladies to talk about our businesses and motivate each other (as well as having a good chat about all sorts of things!).  This morning was an absolutely perfect winters morning down at the beach.  It reminded us all what a beautiful place we live in and how grateful we are that we really do live in paradise.

This second photo was taken at Dreamworld.  The tiger show is amazing and these massive animals are just beautiful.  I will do another post shortly with some more photos from our day there but for now I wanted to share this one which was my favourite.

Grateful Friday

Grateful Friday

Here is my grateful post for the week.  I haven't taken even one photo this week, can you believe it? NOt like me at all but I have been very busy with my business and investigating some new exciting opportunities so it's all good! 

Today I am grateful for the wonderful friends I have in my life.  They make my world a lovely place to be, always there to share good times, a good belly laugh, or a long chat over a coffee!  I am very lucky to have such a diverse and lovely group of friends from all walks of life.  Many here locally, some interstate, some special friends overseas.  Most of them keeping in touch via facebook which has been a fantastic tool to keep in touch when I can't just pop around for a coffee!

So instead of sharing one of my own photos, I'm using a photo that another friend shared on facebook today.  We don't have to be exactly alike, we don't always have to believe in the same things, or think the same way, in fact a good friend accepts you exactly the way you are.

One Little Word Captured | Week 21

Just recently we've had the pleasure of having our gorgeous kitty .. Sam .. living with us again.  Apart from one little escape and a few screaming matches with the cat next door, he is settling in very well as you can see below.  He loves a good nest and the cushions on the couch are one of his favourite spots.

He's pretty much King of the Castle .. and he knows it!

 

We are really ENJOYing having him home.
